Watch for the Paseo de la Explanada de España -- a mosaic marble avenue reminiscent of sea waves -- and Luceros Square, where an impressive fountain dominates with series of horse sculptures.

You will cross the center of town en route to the Castle of Santa Barbara, an aging fortress built during the 16th century. Visit the best-preserved areas such as the Main Tower (Torre del Homenaje) and the Englishmen's bastions.

All about the archaeological aspect of Alicante, this tour begins with a panoramic drive to the MARQ Museum. Here, an expert curator guide leads you through the collections. The MARQ is an archaeology museum dedicated to displaying its collection in classified and catalogued order. It is also a brilliant introduction to the various methods and techniques of preservation and restoration in the field of archaeology. These are explained in three galleries -- Field Archaeology, Urban Archaeology and Underwater Archaeology. Dioramas, audio-visual presentations and interactive exhibits provide visitors with a detailed insight into how archaeologists unveil the past. The information is displayed in an attractive and didactic way.

The town of Elche with its palm tree forest boasts the highest concentration of palms in all of Europe. They number between 200,000 and 300,000, and the singular beauty of the Palmeral of Elche has earned the distinction of being named a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Botanists believe that the Phoenicians planted this palm forest and that date palms have flourished in Elche for more than 2,000 years. The municipal park will introduce you to the world of palms and the flora of the area. Admire the abundant variety of Mediterranean species.

Cross the center of town to visit the Castle of Santa Barbara, standing on Mt Benacantil -- a rocky mass bordering the seashore. Inside the castle, admire some interesting Iberian archeological findings and visit the best-preserved areas such as the Main Tower (Torre del Homenaje) and the Englishmen's bastions.

As you glide past some of the city's most interesting buildings and landmarks, sit back and enjoy a snack -- a cheese platter, French bread, nuts and red or white wine -- while your guide reveals some fascinating facts about the waterways of Holland.

You will visit the famous Van Gogh Museum to see the brilliant collection by the 19th-century master. Van Gogh is as famous for lopping off his own earlobe as he is for his amazing, colorful, post-Impressionist renditions of sunflowers and potato-eaters, as well as tortured self-portraits.

During a short canal cruise, watch for the many mansions and guild buildings dating from the Golden Century, when Dutch merchants traded prolifically with the Far East.

Amsterdam is the city of canals, bridges and diamonds. It boasts a unique charm that is owed to the endless canals that criss-cross the city and the tall, skinny canal houses that huddle on the banks of these busy waterways.

Just a short distance from Amsterdam lies the village of Zaanse Schans, located on the banks of the River Zaan. Bring your camera, as the scenery packed into this tiny park-village is quite remarkable. The windmills spaced along the river are quintessentially and beautifully Dutch -- the stuff of postcards. Enjoy a close-up view of how a windmill works.

Enjoy a get-acquainted tour that introduces the highlights of Barcelona. Your guide will point out many landmarks. At the 13th-century Cathedral of the Holy Cross & Saint Eulalia, located in the Gothic Quarter, you'll step inside to admire the interior.

This bike ride offers a different way to discover Barcelona's squares, monuments, beaches and people, in a city that has more than 60 miles of bicycle lanes and an extensive pedestrian-only Old Town

Head to the famous promenade of La Rambla to visit the La Boqueria and Santa Caterina markets. The original Boqueria building plan dates back to 1217, when the main selling activity was a street market for meat, vegetables and fruits. You can still see the original building, with its metal roof, built by Mas Vilà in the city's popular Modernist style. Today's structure was officially inaugurated in 1853.

Visitors to Barcelona discover a city of charming streetscapes, sidewalk cafés and squares bustling with people. It is full of life. This amazing city also features the world's largest collection of Modernist architecture among its many buildings and churches.

An exciting performance of Spanish Flamenco dance showcases an artform that originated in Andalusia and is comprised of three elements -- the song (el cante), the dance (el baile) and the guitar (el toque). Among the gypsies of Andalusia it was used as an expression of poverty, oppression and personal grief. Over time, Flamenco has also become a means of expressing happiness as it incorporates elements of Spanish music in lighter forms (alegrias, bulerias, fandangos).

Barcelona's modernist architecture, conceived and executed by architect Antonio Gaudí, has ensured Barcelona's place in the world today, on the map, and heading in the future. This tour offers an insight view to the modernism as its best.

Ride by coach to the Montserrat Mountain Ridge, six miles long, three miles wide and 4,050 feet tall. The irregular peaks of Catalonia's most famous mountain are visible from miles around. Montserrat is a cultural, religious and natural landmark. Legend says that shepherds found a statue of a black Virgin Mary on Montserrat. When they tried to move her, the cart got stuck, which they took as a sign to she should stay on the mountain. So this peculiar mountain range is now the site of the monastery where people come to worship La Moreneta -- the black Madonna who is the patron-virgin of Catalonia.

Travel to the Bom Jesus do Monte Sanctuary, located on a hilltop on the outskirts of Braga. Built in the 18th century, the church has an impressive Baroque stairway, zigzagging 381 feet up the hillside. Pilgrims often choose to climb the steps up the hillside on their knees, and are rewarded with striking views of the surrounding countryside once they reach the top. The Sanctuary houses chapels decorated with terracotta sculptures depicting the Passion of Christ. Around the chapels are four Baroque fountains with statues of the Evangelists, which also date back to the 18th century.

Depart the pier by motorcoach for the one-hour journey to Guimaraes -- cradle of the Portuguese nation. The original capital of Portugal, Guimaraes offers a wealth of magnificent buildings and history to discover.

Depart the pier by motorcoach for a panoramic drive past the Cathedral of Porto. Although this was originally a Gothic church, it has been transformed into one of the city's most important Baroque works.

This transfer may suit you if you would like to explore on your own. It consists of a motor coach ride from the ship to Porto. You will be dropped off at a central location, and the coach escort will advise you of the pick-up time for the return journey. You will have approximately 4 hours to shop and explore independently.

A brief panoramic drive brings you to central Porto. In this city that dates mainly from the 18th-century, you will stop to view the façade of the church of Clerigos, a Baroque and Rococo building from the 18th century, and the cathedral, a 12th-century Baroque building that began life as a Gothic structure.

Discover Lisbon by coach, funicular, elevator, tram and your own two feet on this tour that shows you what it's like to move about like a Lisboeta (a Lisbon native). It takes you all over, using a wide range of transportation options.

Approximately 90 minutes from Lisbon is Fatima, the so-called 'Lourdes of Portugal' which, according to Roman Catholicism, is the site of miracles. Your guide will explain the legends associate with Fatima as you explore the area around the imposing modern basilica.

From the pier, travel along the banks of the Tagus River to Baixa, the old business and shopping district with charming narrow streets and the famous squares of Comércio and Rossio. Drive along Liberty Avenue, a charming old boulevard lined with gardens and known for its unique black and white mosaic sidewalks.

The word Baroque comes from the Portuguese barroco, which means an imperfect pearl. Baroque is an architectural and decorative style which flourished all over Europe in the 17th and 18th centuries -- a time when Portugal enjoyed tremendous wealth from the discovery and exploitation of mines in Brazil.

A panoramic drive gives you a chance to enjoy Lisbon's highlights. Watch for Avenida da Liberdade, with its mosaic-lined sidewalks, Black Horse Square and the Park Edward VII viewpoint with a magnificent view of the city.

See from the outside some of the most important landmarks of Lisbon -- the Tower of Belem, the Monument to the Discoveries and the Jeronimos Monastery.

A scenic 1½-hour drive through the beautiful Portuguese countryside leads to the medieval town of Obidos, dating back to 308 BC. Since King Diniz first gave the town to his young bride, Obidos has been a wedding gift to all of Portugal's queens.

Tejeda and Almijara jointly constitute an impressive mountain range -- a geographical barrier between the provinces of Malaga and Granada. Tejeda forms the backbone of the region known as Axarquía (the East) and is a bastion of Mudéjar Arab culture; Almijara derives its name from the Arabic word for colander, possibly referring to the speed with which rainwater drains from its lofty heights.

Travel 1¼ hours by coach to reach the Caminito del Rey -- a trail that crosses the beautiful Gaitanes Ravine and was once called 'one of the world's scariest hiking routes'. Those who historically had the courage to do it anyway were rewarded with amazing views over astonishing landscapes. Originally a supply path for the construction of the railway and a hydroelectric power station, the path, more than 100 years old, fell into disrepair over the course of decades. The path is named after King Alfonso XIII, who walked part of the way to mark the inauguration of the hydroelectric power plant and the reservoir. Now, a comprehensive rebuild has placed it firmly on the map and on many a bucket list. It is now manageable for many people and its bridges, paths and small tunnels comply with more modern codes. About two thirds of the trail is through the valley, with gorges at both ends.

The Albaycin is a truly attractive part of Granada that is often overlooked by visitors. This quarter is one of the oldest settlements in Andalusia and is home to the very famous Alhambra and to the Realejo Jewish neighborhood. It is the flat part of an otherwise hilly city, and was once protected by a city wall.

A one-hour drive brings you to Nerja. Listen to a safety briefing; then, hop into your kayak and follow your guide to the Maro-Cerro Gordo Cliffs, where seabirds make their vertical homes on the steep cliffsides. As you paddle, you will see small caves, waterfalls, and nooks and crannies that can only be appreciated from a small craft. The kayaking takes around two hours and includes a stop for snorkel and swimming. Snorkel gear is provided so that, if you wish, you can enjoy the cooling waters of the Mediterranean. Your guide will provide basic snorkel instruction. If snorkeling isn't your thing, feel free to just swim and bask in the sunshine.

A motor coach drive brings you directly to the picturesque village of Mijas, also known as 'the white town.'
