Many visitors think of the Mayans as an ancient civilization that disappeared long ago, but the fact is that while many other indigenous groups have vanished or been absorbed into the general population, the Mayan culture, customs, language and beliefs remain strong on the Yucatan Peninsula even today. On this tour you will witness the reality that faces these remarkable people as their ancient culture collides with and blends into the modern world. Begin your adventure in a small, contemporary Mayan community built up around the remains of an ancient Mayan settlement and visit one of the fascinating ruins located right in the middle of town. Follow your guide into an authentic Mayan house where you'll learn about the local food and the ancient medicines still used by the local population. Interact with a local family and enjoy a freshly prepared lunch of traditional Mayan/Mexican Cuisine. A better way to end the tour is visiting the beach and that's where we will take you, enjoy the Caribbean sea by swimming and sunbathing. This is the tour that gives you the best of Costa Maya!

This enjoyable half-day outing begins with a leisurely transfer on a modern coach to reach Bacalar, with your guide filling in details about the port and its history. You'll first be heading for Fort San Felipe Bacalar, which dates back to 1733, to see some real-life cannons. Then you'll board a boat for a relaxing cruise and a chance to take a dip in the waters of lagoon, whose colours are many and varied. Lastly, soak up picture-perfect views over lunch in one of Bacalar's loveliest restaurants. Your return journey to the ship then lets the tour draw to a close.

What's black and red and built for fun? The Jaguar Truck - your specially equipped mode of transport on a tour dedicated to delivering an entertaining and varied adventure with plenty of time in the great outdoors. After boarding the truck, your first stop is scheduled following an only 15-minute drive. You can then either team up with a fellow guest to ride a tandem or simply walk through the rainforest to reach your destination: a beautiful Mexican cenote. The deliciously refreshing water is perfect for a soak, after which you'll get back on the truck and head for your next stop: the beach. While your friendly tour guides get busy setting up camp, you'll have time to practice bodyboard or stand-up paddle boarding, take a floating mat for a dip in the sea or simply relax on the fine white sand. Once you've enjoyed lunch on the beach, your return journey in the customised Jaguar Truck will give you a chance to enjoy further gorgeous views of the Costa Maya coastline.

Get ready to kiss a dolphin! In this experience of a lifetime you will be able to kiss, pet and interact with the magnificent mammals. You'll be greeted by your smiling guide at the end of the dock who will brief you on the day's event, it is only a five-minute walk to the Dolphin Park and you will be given a locker and a lifejacket. After a brief educational and safety training, enjoy about 30 minutes in the water on a submerged platform, a great way for even novice swimmers to enjoy this incredible experience. You'll be surprised by the great intelligence and friendliness of these wonderful marine mammals.

Since the waters off the Costa Maya boast the worlds second-largest coral reef, it would be rather a shame to miss out on seeing it at first hand  and if you prefer without even getting your feet wet. After the short transfer from the pier to the lovely beach at Mahahual, a small fishing village just south of the cruise ship terminal, youll board a glass-bottomed boat and begin your adventure. With the iridescent waters of the Caribbean Sea beneath you and panoramic views to soothe the eye, youll sail to the reef location. After taking some time to get acquainted with the teeming wildlife through the boats glass underbelly, you can  if you want  take to the water itself to meet and greet the reefs colourful inhabitants. Thanks to the small group size, you can feel safe in knowing that your fully qualified guides will remain close at hand throughout your snorkel tour to assist you at every turn. Once you return to the beach at Mahahual, you can choose whether to return straight to the ship or if youd prefer to have a look around downtown and then return on your own steam. Please note: guests must be at least 8 years of age to take part. For safety reasons, the tour is considered to be unsuitable for pregnant women, guests with pre-existing respiratory conditions such as asthma, with cardiac conditions (including a history of cardiac arrest and/or surgery), diabetes, epilepsy, back/neck injuries and guests taking medication such as anti- depressants, lithium, beta-blockers and base vein constrictors. Guests wishing to remain downtown after the tour will have to return to the ship at their own expense. Guests will be required to sign a waiver which may only be available in English.

Enjoy an exclusive outing to the Mayan ruins of Chacchoben, with beer, soft drinks and bottled water served on both the drive there and the journey back. This tour is designed for small groups of maximum 12 guests, having in mind your desire for exclusivity and comfort. On arrival at the archaeological site, you'll spend 2 hours being taken on a guided tour of the fascinating ruins. The historical and cultural significance of the various structures and buildings found at the site, including the Gran Basamento staircase leading to the top of the largest pyramid, will be explained by your guide during your visit. Keep your camera at hand during your time at this important archaeological excavation. Lastly, you can relax on the scenic coach ride back to the ship.

Since there's no better place on earth than Mexico itself to find out how authentic Mexican food is made, move your hips to the salsa beat and sip a refreshing margarita while you dance, this tour lets you go native for a while and do all three in the most sumptuous surroundings. A coach transfer to a beachfront restaurant affording superb views of the Caribbean Sea gets the party started, after which youll first be shown the best way to make Mexican salsas and creamy guacamole  delicious with tortilla chips whichever way you slice and dice it. And the recipe will be yours to keep as a memento so you can recreate the moment back at home. Then tickle your taste buds with a complimentary margarita, a cool Mexican beer or some flavoured water before you hit the dance floor for your salsa lesson. Simply follow the step-by-step instructions and youll soon be swaying to the infectious rhythms like a pro. Free time will then be yours to relax and enjoy the beach facilities, laze around in the sun or go for a swim in the sea. Best of all, you can choose between returning to the ship using the transport provided or stay for longer and use a taxi coupon for your return trip. The tour is considered to be unsuitable for guests with mobility problems or who use mobility aids such as a cane, walker or a wheelchair. Photos of your Dolphin Program will be available for purchase right after the interaction and only at the Park. Bring hat and sunglasses, comfortable shoes or sandals, swimsuit under cover-up or light clothing. All sunscreen is prohibited from use before entering the water due to the damage it causes to the reef.

Both the latest attraction on the Mayan Riviera and an opportunity to do some shopping are on the itinerary of this appealing all-day excursion. First, you’ll board a coach for the transfer to Xenses Park, then get set to have some 15 different activity stations play with your senses in a most astounding way. Smile at various visual puns and optical illusions, see different ecosystems, experience the thrill of flying through the air and relax at the park’s natural Xpá. After this multi-sensory visit, you’ll move on to Playa del Carmen for about an hour of free time to go shopping along Quinta Avenida, or 5th Avenue in English. This is Playa del Carmen’s main retail hub and home to countless shops and boutiques both on the main avenue and on its side streets – the perfect place to pick up a Mexican memento. Your return journey to the ship then sees the tour come to an end. Please note: guests must be at least 5 years of age to take part. The tour is considered to be unsuitable for pregnant women and the activities are not recommended for persons with heart problems, a fear of heights, claustrophobia, vertigo, back pain or who have recently undergone surgery. Guests may not weigh more than 135 kg (300 lbs). To use the zip lines, guests must be at least 135 cm (4 ft. 5 in.) in height and weigh at least 40 kg (88 lbs). Certain park activities include water of between 107 cm and 127 cm (3 ft. 6 in. and 4 ft. 2 in.) in depth. Any children wishing to take part in these activities who cannot swim and are less than 127 cm (4 ft. 2 in.) in height must be accompanied by a parent at all times. Guests are recommended to wear comfortable clothing as well as to bring swimwear, water shoes, cash to cover any additional purchases, biodegradable sunscreen, a towel, a change of clothes, a hat and sunglasses, etc. Please ensure your sunscreen is fully biodegradable as normal sunscreen is prohibited from use due to the damage it causes to the reef. Guests will be required to sign a waiver which may be available only in English. For calls when the ship is in port 10 or more hours, this tour will last an hour longer and guests will have free time in Playa del Carmen.

Promising to deliver a unique subterranean experience, this all-day outing begins when you leave the ship and take the ferry to the mainland. You’ll then board a van and head straight for Río Secreto, an underground world credited to be “Mexico and Central America’s Leading Nature Reserve”. You’ll be taken on a guided tour of these breathtaking caverns that will see you walking, wading and even swimming along parts of the route. The water is crystal-clear, the rock formations are incredible and the stalagmites and stalactites look like long strands of molten candlewax. Once your guided exploration has come to an end, you’ll be able to enjoy a light lunch and a drink. Lastly, you’ll pay a visit to Playa del Carmen and have a chance to do some shopping on Quinta Avenida, or 5th Avenue in English, before catching the ferry back to the ship. Guests are recommended to wear swimwear under comfortable clothing as well as to bring water shoes and a change of dry clothes. Please ensure your sunscreen is fully biodegradable as normal sunscreen is prohibited from use due to the damage it causes to the reef. The tour involves walking on uneven ground. Guests will not be permitted to take watches, jewellery, photo or video cameras on the underground river tour. Guests will be able to purchase professional photos of their experience at additional expense. Guests are requested to take their own level of physical fitness into account when deciding whether to take part. For safety reasons, the tour is not open to guests of limited mobility, pregnant women, guests with heart or respiratory conditions, back or neck injuries and/or who have recently undergone surgery. The tour is considered to be unsuitable for guests with claustrophobia. The approx. 45-minute ferry transfer to Playa del Carmen may be rough depending on the sea conditions. Spend a few relaxing hours off the ship in one of Cozumel's most beautiful locations, the Chankanaab National Park, an enchanting beachfront area and protected marine reserve. With only a short drive from the cruise terminal to begin your tour, you can then enjoy the all-inclusive facilities and attractions of the park, among which snorkelling in the shallow beachside waters is one of the most popular. Gear up and indulge in an adventurous swim through the shoals of multi-coloured fish that call the reef their home, but also look out for various underwater statues that form part of the marine reserve. Further attractions in the park included free sea lion shows, the Blue Lagoon inland coral reef to visit, and a lush botanical garden with replicas of Mayan archaeological finds, a reproduction Mayan village and the Hacienda Antigua, the perfect spot to sample different kinds of tequila. The largest, most populated of the six Bay Islands, Roatán is considered the jewel of the Western Caribbean, famed for its barrier reef, diving and fishing cultures, coupled with its breathtaking hills and lush tropical landscapes. Leaving port at Coxen Hole, you’ll head off-the-beaten track to the east side of the island to the picturesque fishing villages of Punta Gorda, on the northern coast, and Oak Ridge, on the southern. Punta Gorda is home to about 150 families of local Garifuna people, the descendants of African slaves who arrived in Roatán from St. Vincent in 1797, after being exiled by the Brits following a quashed rebellion. In Punta Gorda, a Garifuna guide and a local fisherman will give and in-depth fishing demonstration, while a cook fries up the catch of the day and lets you sample the fresh fish. Over on the southern coast, boarding a traditional cayuco boat at the landing docks at B.J.’s Backyard Restaurant, you’ll get an up-close view of Oak Ridge, known as the Venice of Roatán, as the village is only accessible by boat. Passing Oak Ridge’s brightly painted wooden houses on stilts, you’ll learn how this sleepy seaside village, once inhabited by pirates, is home to family-owned fishing companies that remain the second biggest industry on the island. Your guided cayuco journey will continue through majestic mangrove tunnels toward neighboring Jonesville before your cayuco docks for lunch at Hole in the Wall restaurant, a true local hangout and boater’s respite that brings out your inner pirate. At Hole in the Wall, you’ll be treated to a traditional Honduran seafood platter served with rice and beans, vegetables and fried plantains. For those ready for something with a bit more punch, a cash bar is available. End the day on land, as you travel back to the port. Please note: The order of stops may vary. Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s you flying along the Zuperman Zip Line at tremendous speed in the middle of the Roatán jungle. After a short coach transfer, you’ll reach the adventure park for an initial safety briefing and to be issued with all the gear you’ll need. After that, you’ll first get up close and personal with Mother Nature during a walk over some suspension bridges. You’ll not only get to learn about the local flora and fauna, but also thrill to the feel of the bridges swaying under your feet. Next up, you’ll move on to the Zuperman Zip Canopy Tour, an experience like no other. Two adjacent lines let you zip along in tandem, covering a course of nearly 460 m on an adrenaline-fuelled, forward-facing ride. Last up is a chance to let your heart rate return to normal while you browse for a souvenir. The return journey to your ship brings the tour to a close. Please note: guests must be at least 1.22 m (4 ft.) in height, but weigh no more than 113 kg (250 lbs) to take part in the tour. The Zuperman Zip Canopy Tour is a short-duration adventure involving a forward-facing, high-speed ride down an approx. 460 m (1,500 ft.) zip line. Two lines run adjacent to one another, allowing guests to complete the course two by two. The park’s suspension bridges allow more relaxed exploration, are covered on the sides and bottom, and provide cables to hold onto; however, they will sway as you walk over them. Guests are required to wear closed shoes and, since a harness will need to be worn, long trousers or longer shorts. Guests are required to keep any loose items secured throughout the tour to avoid loss. Due to the active nature of this tour, guests are required to take their level of physical fitness and previous medical history into account when deciding whether the tour is appropriate for them. The tour is not open to pregnant women or guests with back, neck, cardiac or any other medical conditions. All participating guests will be required to sign a waiver, which may be available only in English.

After leaving your ship, a short transfer will first take you to Las Palmas Beach Club, a beautiful beach complex located in Dixon Cove, where you will be served a welcoming drink on arrival. The complex also hosts one souvenir shop. The white sands of the tropical beach are the perfect spot to take to the water for a refreshing swim and enjoy views of the bay. The tour also includes numerous photo opportunities, use of a free beach chair and is wheelchair-accessible throughout, including toilet facilities. Please note: You are recommended to bring swimwear, a towel, sunscreen, insect repellent, a sunhat, sunglasses and cash for purchases. Guests using a wheelchair are advised that they must be accompanied by a paying helper to provide assistance with getting on and off the coach and that wheelchairs must be collapsible/foldable since the coach has neither a ramp nor a lift. What could be more adorable and fascinating than starfish? These brightly colored, slow-moving marine animals are unmistakably shaped and are astonishing to visitors! Roatan is one of the top 6 snorkeling spots to see starfish! The dazzling waters of Roatan are a real paradise for the starfish, also known as Cushion Sea Star. The Mayan Eden Eco-Park is a nature park in Roatan that brings you back to the ancient world of the glorious and mystical Mayan culture. After a very short transfer by motor-coach, our knowledgeable park guides will brief you and guide you along the Ocelot mountain trail through the virgin rain forest while learning about the Mayan history and culture. Admire old rattans and other trees, pass through a suspension bridge, view amazing replicas of the ancient Mayan sculptures found at Copan archaeological ruins on the mainland.
