Dedicate a day to exploring the Eternal City on a gentle biking route through mainly pedestrianised areas and side roads with little traffic. First, though, you'll board a coach for the transfer to Circus Maximus, from where you'll then follow your guide by bike. The escorted tour will take you past such iconic landmarks as the Capitol, Pantheon, the fountains on Piazza Navona, Castel Sant'Angelo, the world-famous Spanish Steps and the equally notable Trevi Fountain, the one in which it is customary to toss a coin for good luck. Also, on the cycling itinerary are views of the Roman Forum, People's Square and Villa Borghese and the Colosseum. A stop is scheduled at St. Peter's Square, home to St. Peter's Basilica, so you can have a bit of a breather and enjoy the surroundings. Your bike ride will also include plenty of stops to take photos of all you see and at the end, you'll rejoin your coach for the relaxing return journey to your ship.

The Eternal City has hosted its annual International Exhibition of Nativity Scenes, your main destination on this all-day outing, for more than four decades now. A 1.5-hour drive to Rome begins the tour, after which you'll enjoy a narrated drive, passing the Pyramid, Baths of Caracalla, Circus Maximus, Arch of Constantine, Colosseum and Via Veneto. Next, you'll get to walk to the Trevi Fountain, Piazza di Spagna at the base of the Spanish Steps and the Pantheon en route to Piazza Navona, one of Rome's famous squares where free time for lunch will be allowed. Finally you will be transferred to St.Peter's, at the exhibition centre, feel free to unleash your inner Christmas elf and browse the beautiful Nativity scenes at your leisure. Coming from all over the world and made of a wide variety of materials, these scenes are a massed celebration of seasonal spirit. Next, you'll have another hour to enjoy a visit of St. Peter's Basilica  along with its Christmas tree in the forecourt  in Vatican City before you return to the ship.

This tour is especially intended for all guests disembarking and wanting to enjoy a sightseeing tour of the eternal city. After boarding a coach, a 1.5-hour drive will take you to Italy's capital city and its wonders. Meet your guide and enjoy a coach drive passing by Rome's main tourist sites including Cestia Pyramid, Caracalla Baths, "Circus Massimus", the Colosseo, the romantic "Lungotevere" and the Dolce Vita's street, Via Veneto, until reaching St. Peter's Square. You will have time to explore on your own and, if you like, visit the Basilica. Your guide will be happy to provide information on the site beforehand. Next, reach your coach and continue to Fiumicino airport.

All roads may lead to Rome, but the Tiber is the river that gave the city its birth and its life. See Rome like you've never seen it before! Leave the port, enjoy the coach drive to Rome, meet your guide and begin a short sightseeing coach of the city passing the Colosseum and the Circus Maximus. At Lungotevere, you will get off the coach for a pleasant walk through Trastevere, one of the most authentic Roman quarters. Enjoy a tasting of local products in a typical open-air market. Visit the famous church of Santa Maria in Trastevere and the colourful Via della Lungaretta with its several osteria restaurants. Legend has it that the only island in the River Tiber is where Rome had its beginnings. Enjoy a relaxing and interesting 20-minute cruise on the river. Disembark at Castel Sant'Angelo for the second leg of your walking tour including the Vatican area with Via della Conciliazione and external look at St. Peter's Basilica. Next, discover the amazing sights of Baroque Rome, including Piazza Navona, the Pantheon, the Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps, and the Via Condotti and its famous VIP shops, Via del Babbuino, Piazza del Popolo and Viale Washington. Some free time will be scheduled along the itinerary. Board your coach to head back to your ship.

When in Rome, do as the Romans do: know your pasta dishes! Aiming to turn you into a true pasta connoisseur, this all-day outing not only reveals the best of Rome, but also includes a palate-popping pasta-tasting session during a sit-down lunch with a glass of wine. A 1.5-hour coach ride will see you reach Rome, followed by coach-based views of the Pyramid, Circus Maximus, and Caracalla Baths, plus a photo stop at the Colosseum. Back on the coach, you'll cross St. John's Square, St. Mary Major and Piazza della Repubblica to reach Ludovisi Parking and walk to the Trevi Fountain into which you should toss a coin. Stroll through the Baroque quarter, with the Pantheon and Navona Square. Finally, it's time to savour a sit-down pasta-tasting lunch, accompanied by a glass of wine. Learn the difference between Amatriciana, carbonara, gricia and cacio & pepe - classic Roman pasta sauces. With ingredients such as guanciale (cured pork cheek), pecorino cheese, eggs, tomatoes, and black pepper to tempt your taste buds, lunch promises to be truly delicious. Lastly, enjoy passing views of Castel Sant'Angelo and St. Peter's Dome on the way back.

An all-day date with the Eternal City awaits you on this outing, which begins with a relaxing 1.5-hour coach ride from the port. On arrival, you'll meet your guide and embark on a sightseeing route that includes the Pyramid of Cestius, the Baths of Caracalla, the ancient chariot racing stadium Circus Maximus, the city centre, and a photo stop at the Colosseum. You'll then take your leave of Rome and move on to Vatican City, where you can attend the Pope's Sunday Angelus on St. Peter's Square if you wish. Your guide will provide you with some information on the square and its splendid obelisk, after which you'll have about 2 hours to explore on your own. Get your Papal blessing at the Angelus or use the time to have lunch (at extra cost). Next up, you'll find yourself taking a stroll along the banks of the River Tiber and crossing the St. Angelo Bridge to reach Piazza Navona, one of Rome's most beautiful, and then passing the Pantheon before you re-board the coach for the unguided return journey to the port.

The origins of Tuscania goes back to the myth and legends; some want the town to be founded by Hercules' son, some others by Aeneas' son, Ascanius. Your excursion will begin with a 50-minute coach drive across the beautiful landscape until reaching the village of Tuscania. Enjoy a guided walking tour of its historical centre, surrounded by medieval walls and marvel at the view from the Tower of Lavello. Your guide will point out the village's main sights including the Church of Saint Peter; a unique opportunity to feel the atmosphere of central Italy's little villages. Next, after boarding your coach again, you will drive to Tarquinia, one of the 12 Etruscan cities in the past. Your guide will take you on an interesting itinerary to discover of this important village in the heart of Tuscia territory.

Next to an amazing nightlife, cosmopolitan atmosphere and beautiful landscape, Mykonos is also home to a slew of gorgeous beaches, some of which you will be discovering by boat on this appealing half-day tour. Only a short coach ride from the pier will see you reach Agios Ioannis, from where a local kind of boat known as a caïque will take you on a sun-kissed sail around the islands southern coastline. Feel the breeze in your hair and soak up the views as you pass Ornos, Psarou, Platis Gialos, Paranga and Super Paradise beaches  some of the best on the island. Depending on the weather, swimming stops are also scheduled in the vicinity of selected beaches, so its worth having your swimwear on under your clothes. A chance to go ashore at Paradise beach and enjoy the facilities also forms part of the outing, as do delicious cold Greek snacks on board the caïque as you make your way home. Please note: the tour runs from June to September, but is available only for guests on board MSC Poesia. Guests are recommended to wear swimwear under clothes and to bring a hat, sunscreen and towels. The tour is not available for guests with mobility problems or using a wheelchair. Beach stops are not scheduled (with the exception of a stop at Paradise beach), but swimming will be possible directly from the caïque.

Nestling in a secluded cove on the southern shoreline of Mykonos lies one of the island's longest beaches  Kalo Livadi  and your destination on this appealing half-day seaside treat. Pop your swimwear on under your clothes, leave the ship and spend a mere 30 minutes on a coach to reach the idyllic setting, perfect for some serious relaxation on pristine sand while lounging on a sunbed. The shallow and crystal-clear Aegean Sea is an open invitation to paddle or swim, whereas the many tavernas that flank the beach make an ideal spot to savour the views with a refreshing drink in hand. You will have about 3 hours to enjoy the beach whichever way you like before the coach then returns you to the ship.

Fabulous beaches, a windmill-dotted landscape, friendly locals and a particularly lively night-time clubbing scene have all gone to make Mykonos the popular holiday destination it is today. This tour will see you leave the ship, hop on a local, public seabus for a short trip to the old port to enjoy an evening of Greek hospitality and a light dinner in a restaurant. In addition to delicious local specialities and wine, you will also get to enjoy a folkloric show while at the restaurant. You can even join in yourself and shake a leg or, if you prefer, simply clap in time with the music. The tour also includes a guided walk around the narrow lanes of Mykonos town, full of whitewashed houses and enclosed gardens. At the end of the tour, you can either return to the ship straight away or spend more time in "Chora", as locals call the town, until you feel ready to call it a night and make your own way back to the ship by shuttle boat.

Situated in the middle of the Cyclades Group lies Delos, the "Island of Light", and the destination of this enjoyable tour. After a short boat trip, your exploration of Delos' historical remains and rich mythology can begin. Legend has it that Zeus took a shine to the beautiful Leto, in the course of which affair she fell pregnant. However, this drew the ire of Zeus' wife, Hera, who promptly forbade Mother Earth to give Leto refuge. Just when all hope seemed to be lost, a serendipitous island  Delos  rose out of the sea, giving Leto a safe haven to deliver twins Artemis and Apollo. Popular as a pilgrimage site among ancient Grecians, Delos became one of the wealthiest shrines of antiquity. Among the remains of this era is the Avenue of Lions, so named for a row of originally 7th-century Naxian-marble lions that seem to guard the spot where Leto is said to have given birth. You can then crown your exceptional experience by taking the path up to Mount Cynthos, from whose peak Zeus is said to have watched the birth of his twins. Do not let the uphill hike deter you, for the mind-blowing view from the peak is worth every step. Next destination is the traditional village of Pyrgos for an opportunity to taste typical Greek snack at a local restaurant. Continue to the mountain of Profitis Elias, the highest of the island (550 m) with an incredible panoramic view of Santorini; be certain to have your camera ready for your memory book. Sail through the "Caldera", the Gulf of Santorini, to the tiny, uninhabited island of Nea Kameni. The island is home to a volcano which we will visit during a walking tour and which enriches the waters around the island. More islands are in store as we continue to Palea Kameni where our boat will anchor for about 30 minutes so you can swim from the boat in the warm, sulphuric waters. You then return to Skala port to board a tender boat back to your cruise ship.

Popular as a tourist destination due to its lovely beaches, relaxed atmosphere and wonderful weather, the beautiful Greek island of Santorini is also known for the ancient city of Akrotiri, which is situated at the southern end of the island and forms the destination of this half-day tour. A tender boat will first take you on the quick ride from the ship to Athinios port, from where you will continue on an approx. 20-minute coach ride to ancient Akrotiri. Once a thriving settlement during the Minoan Bronze Age, the town was buried by a tremendous volcanic eruption in the middle of the second millennium B.C.. The cloak of lava and ash that descended on the settlement served to preserve the site, which includes pristine frescoes, pottery, furniture, an advanced drainage system and even some three-storey buildings, all of which have been uncovered since excavation work began in 1967. The 1.5-hour stay at this Minoan settlement will give you plenty of time to have a good look around and soak up the special atmosphere of this prehistoric location. The visit will be followed by a little bit of free time to visit the nearby modern village of Akrotiri, after which you will head for the village of Fira where your guide will tell you how to take the cable car down the port to catch the tender boat back to your ship.

Your relaxing beach experience begins with a short trip on a tender boat to Athinios port, after which a coach will take you to Perivolos Beach, a picturesque stretch of sand giving onto the beautiful blue of the Aegean Sea. This village is famous for its hill-top location which offers a breathtaking view over the Gulf of Santorini. Enjoy a short guided walk followed by approx. 45 minutes free time before boarding the coach and reach a nearby winery where delights of a different kind are in store. Sample local delicacies made of cheese, tomatoes, olives, and bread accompanied by a delicious wine tasting session. Next on your list is the small town of Fira, located in the west of the island and perched on a cliff 260 metres above sea level. You will have free time to discover the narrow streets of the town where the predominant colour is white and blue; don't forget your camera because every corner of Fira is a great place to take panoramic pictures. Near the Orthodox Cathedral you will say goodbye to your guide, but not before being told how to take the cable car back to the port of Fira. From the port, a boat will take you to the ship.

Next, board your coach to reach Athinios port where a motorboat awaits to take you back to the ship.

You'll then gain a glimpse into the world of the Circolo di Conversazione private gentleman's club. Leaving the beauties of Ragusa Ibla, we'll head for the small town of Modica, one of the most romantic corners in Sicily with its pretty churches, baroque palaces and beautiful squares lined with palms. After visiting the ornate church of San Pietro atop its famous flights of steps, we'll stop in a typical local restaurant for a delicious lunch. Modica is also home to one of the best chocolate companies in Italy, so we'll naturally dedicate some time to chocolate tasting before transferring to the beautiful town of Scicli with its UNESCO World Heritage Site historic centre. Fans of the very popular Inspector Montalbano films will recognise Scicli as the town where the films are shot as we visit the churches of Sant'Ignazio and San Giovanni, marvelling at their spectacular interiors, and tour the main streets and squares of the town before returning to the ship for dinner.

The final leg of your tour will take you to the Fontana Aretusa freshwater spring where papyri grow before completing your discoveries with sampling the art of Sicilian sweet making, savouring exquisite traditional granita with brioche or Sicilian cannoli in one of the many local bars. Travelling with children? Look no further than our dolphin day, ideal for older, kids and nature lovers alike. Leave the pier heading for the Marine Park where we will have a short talk on dolphin behaviours and learn how to interact with these gentle mammals. We will then proceed to the dolphin pool where you will meet and play with trained bottlenose dolphins for about 20 minutes. Free time in the Marine Park before returning to the vessel.

Discover Malta on a pedelec, a bicycle with a small electric motor that assists you up to 25 km/h while pedalling. Leaving the port and the city of Valetta, you'll cycle out into the countryside along rural roads and small paths, towards the southern part of the island. After passing the local weekly market in the small village Marsaxlokk, you'll reach the east coast of Malta, where you will be rewarded with a fascinating panorama. A small path far from the usual tourist routes will take you to "Peter's Pool", a beautiful piece of coastline with various bathing possibilities. After an extensive swimming stop, you will return to Valetta, stopping briefly at the village of Marsaxlokk. Finally, enjoy a quick tour of the capital, with great views of the harbour from the Upper Barrakka Gardens, before cycling back to the port.

As you glide into Valletta's blue harbour, you'll see a mass of baroque palaces, 16th-century cathedrals, and neoclassical churches. This UNESCO-protected city was once hugely sought after, and its harbour was the setting for fierce battles. Malta's capital is even better in close-up and, on this cycling tour, you'll explore the place on 2 wheels. Your guide will first lead you to the Botanical Garden for a look at the local flora and some great views. You'll then pedal along the waterfront, passing fishing boats and expensive yachts. After a break at St. Julian, it's on to the Old Town, cocooned within medieval walls. You'll ride inside to see the Grand Master Palace: built way back in 1571 and used for centuries as the house of government, today it houses the President's office. Also, on the itinerary is the imposing St Paul's Cathedral - a carbon copy of London's version.

The second largest island in the Maltese archipelago is Gozo, which lies north of the main island and will be your destination on this mainly boat-based tour. Once you're on board the powerboat, you'll sail past Sliema's urbanised coastline, the resort of Bu?ibba, St. Paul's island, Mellie?a Bay, the caves of Comino Island and the crystal-clear waters of the beautiful Blue Lagoon en route to Gozo and M?arr Harbour. You'll then get to check out some of Gozo's breathtaking, unspoiled scenery and key landmarks by jeep - photo-worthy every one  such as the impressive Rotunda of Xewkija, the amazing cliffs at Sanap, the quaint Xlendi Bay and the saltwater lagoon known as the Inland Sea. Weather permitting, a swimming stop then follows at Hondoq Bay and, to finish off, a shopping break at the Gozo Crafts' Centre. The return journey on the powerboat brings the outing to an end.

Choose to spend a few hours in a natural paradise with turquoise, crystal waters. Soon after disembarking from your ship, you will embark on a powerboat to reach Comino and its famous blue lagoon. Just 3.5 square kilometres, Comino is nearly car-free and, apart from one hotel, is virtually uninhabited. The island's main attraction is the blue lagoon. In summer, this sheltered inlet of shimmering aquamarine water over white sand is very popular with day-trippers. You will have approx. 2-3 hours to spend at the lagoon, working on your tan, swimming, or relaxing in the sun.

This half-day roundup of Maltese essentials begins with a coach ride to the city of Birgu, also known as Vittoriosa. As one of Malta's three historic cities, Birgu was the first place the Knights Hospitaller called home when the order moved to the island in 1530. Your walk through town will take you past such historical treasures as the inns of residence - called auberges - that were built by the Knights, the 17th-century Church of St. Lawrence and Fort St. Angelo, whose construction began in the 13th-century and continued until the late 17th-century. You'll then continue on by coach to the south of the island and Malta's largest fishing village: Marsaxlokk. Enjoy exploring the quaint marketplace with its cafeterias and the luzzus in the harbour, colourful boats typically used in this area. A tasting session of Maltese delicacies ends the outing before the coach returns you to the ship.
