One of the most diverse ecosystems in the world, the Belize Barrier Reef is comprised of 70 hard coral species and 36 soft coral species and is home to 500 species of fish, with many more still to be discovered. Charles Darwin described it as "the most remarkable barrier reef in the West Indies" in 1842. A large portion of the reef is protected by the Belize Barrier Reef Reserve System and offers incredible diving and snorkeling opportunities. It was designated as a World Heritage Site in 1996 due to its spectacular beauty and ecological and biological significance.

Your knowledgeable tour guide will entertain you with interesting facts on the history culture, geography, flora and fauna of this very diverse country as you travel out of the city and 30 miles along the George Pirice Highway before arriving at the Zoo. The Belize Zoo is the perfect way to experience what the untamed jungles and savannahs have to offer. The Tropical Education Center was started in 1983 as an attempt to provide a home for various wild animals that had been featured in documentary films about the rainforest. From the very beginning, it was apparent that Belizeans were not familiar with the different species of wildlife that shared their country and all efforts were made to transform the little zoo into a dynamic wildlife education center. Today, the Belize Zoo covers approximately 29 acres of tropical savannah and features over 125 animal's native to Belize, many of which were found injured and nursed back to health. Enjoy the magnificent range of mammals, birds and reptiles from jaguars to howler monkeys, toucans to egrets and crocodiles to tree frogs, all in their natural habitat. You will spend approximately 1½ hours touring the zoo and educational center before returning via Belize City, finally arriving at the cruise ship pier.

Your excursion begins at Fort Street Tourism Village at the pier where you'll board your air-conditioned transportation for the transfer to the city dock. A rough and tumble and sometimes wet ride, a single-passenger ATV experience is an opportunity to explore the back roads of Costa Maya not seen by most tourists. All vehicles have automatic transmission and are easy to handle after instruction, but be prepared for a fast, thrilling ride. Spectacular jungle roads, lush vegetation and picturesque views make for a scenic trip. Drivers must be over 18 years old. Dress to get dirty!

For many years the Mayan ruins of Chacchoben remained hidden in the jungle, cut off from the world. Today, while it still keeps most of its secrets covered with lush tropical vegetation, Chacchoben is one of the ancient sites most visited from Costa Maya. Enter the heart of this abandoned ceremonial center and walk in the footsteps of the ruling families and nobles who called it home.

The mission of the Cozumel Coral Reef Restoration Program is the preservation of the fragile coral reefs, providing educational programs promoting conservation of the coral reefs, and the restoration of reefs affected by human activities and storms. It aims to educate and empower others to take care of and improve our ocean. A nonprofit organization, it is funded solely by donations. The program allows ecologically minded travelers to experience the beauty of the sea while aiding marine biologists with their important work in the local ecosystem, assisting in a variety of tasks that could include coral fragments planting, gathering, identification or even beach restoration activities. Snorkelers later are guided through coral gardens appreciate the environment that they've helped to preserve.

Learn more about Mayan customs and heritage with a stroll around this interactive place. The little cacao bean is made into delectable chocolate, and visitors will watch a demonstration of the process and learn how chocolate is mixed with ingredients such as chili and honey.

During this culinary adventure you'll sip and savor the sweet delicacies of chocolate, and discover how it gets to your glass, mug or dessert plate. Upon arrival, enjoy a refreshing chocolate drink while your host regales you with the Mayans and Aztecs contributions to this "food of the gods." During an in-depth presentation, learn how the ripe, melon shaped cocoa pods are cracked open to extract the beans, and harvested and placed on vats, which starts the fermentation process.

The largest town on the island, San Miguel de Cozumel is a bustling urban area with historic roots and a distinctly lively touristy atmosphere. The city scape is noted for its colorful, low-rise colonial-style buildings; the Mestizaje monument, which celebrates Cozumel's cultural heritage; the Zólaco (or main plaza), which is a lush oasis in the waterfront district; open-air restaurants; and the traditional marketplace frequented by friendly locals.

Upon arrival at this vast property, meet your guide and embark on an informal tour of the beautiful grounds. As you walk, make note of the activities that interest you most, as you will have ample time to explore independently. Gumbalimba Preservation Park's offerings are quite diverse, and with so much to choose from, it is often hard to know where to start! Highlights include a walk down the natural trail and the opportunity to climb a towering suspension bridge over a pond. It's a thrilling experience!

Following a sightseeing tour of the island, you'll disembark at the plantation where you'll learn all about the cacao plant and the life cycle of this amazing tree. Discover how cacao trees are planted and cared for, as well as how cacao pods are harvested. Then, you'll see how cacao seeds are fermented and dried by natural sunlight. As you move into the facility's work room, you'll roast, grind and create your own exquisite chocolate known in the Nahuatl language as "xocolat." When the chocolate bar is ready, you can savor its exquisite flavor or take it home.

The tour begins at our facility where we prepare you with all the adequate gear (helmet, harness, pulleys, carabiniers, safety straps, gloves), safety briefing, giving you all tools needed for your extreme adventure.
