The Beach House (13-17)

Inspired by the great outdoors, this cozy center keeps kids busy with games, dancing and kid-sized Olympic competitions. Their minds stay busy, too, with California Science Center programs like rocket building, or they can explore outer space with Stargazing and learning how to build a model roller coaster. Exciting events like talent shows, theme nights, and treasure hunts encourage new friendships and family togetherness.

The Lodge (8-12)

Rest assured, whether you've planned a day of exploring or a romantic night out, the group kidsitting at our Youth Centers offers your children between the ages of 3 and 12 plenty to look forward to. It's the perfect place for them to relax or play games with their friends. And the charge is just $5.00 USD per hour per child.

The Travel Channel calls the Great Alaskan Lumberjack Show one of the "Top 10 Things to See in Alaska." From the pier, you'll walk to the covered, heated and cushioned grandstand. You'll get to see Alaska's frontier lumberjacks battle British Columbia's premier woodsmen in a no-holds-barred competition for the title "Bull of the Woods." These world champion athletes are featured in springboard chopping, buck sawing, axe throwing, log rolling and the thrilling 50-foot tree climb, while the colorful host delights the crowd with stories of lumberjack lore

Once at the shoreline of Lake Harriet Hunt, you'll be outfitted with a life jacket and poncho then board a 37-foot Native-style canoe that's fast, stable and easy to maneuver. Paddling under the direction of an experienced guide, you can scan the shore for wildlife and learn about the natural and Native history of the Ketchikan area. Back on shore, you'll set out on a short nature hike with your guide who'll share his knowledge of the forest's flora and fauna including the sundew, a carnivorous plant that uses tentacles with an adhesive "dew" to ensnare small insects. Before returning to Ketchikan, you'll receive a souvenir "I Canoed Ketchikan" pin.

Depart Ketchikan's dynamic working waterfront for a south bound cruise featuring Creek Street and the largest collection of standing totem poles in the world at Saxman Native Village. Enjoy the fresh Alaska air while sipping complimentary coffee or cocoa on open observation decks or kick back inside the comfortable enclosed cabin while you cruise through beautiful passages in search of wildlife. Whales, seals, porpoise, bald eagles and other species are often sighted here. A naturalist and skilled captain share their knowledge of the area and the wildlife habitats and patterns of movement and will ensure the best possible photographic opportunities. Your professional guides will instruct and outfit you with equipment in an open-air rainforest pavilion. Then let gravity pull you through the rainforest canopy along a series of eight ziplines and eight connecting elements. You will catch glimpses of bald eagles and the ocean below as you zoom through old growth cedars. Traverse a swaying log, swing across rope loops and feel the speed of and acceleration of landing onto an ocean platform high above the water. Don't worry - these ziplines are easy with no hand-braking. For the less adventurous members of your party, guides can assist you in skipping elements.

Upon arrival, you'll be paired in groups of four for your adventure along the mountain roads of Tongass National Forest. Your guide will lead you to scenic vistas while providing a narrated tour via two-way CB radios. The radios provide an interactive experience allowing you to ask questions, enjoy commentary from other Jeeps and share your own stories.

Your excursion begins with a narrated transfer to historic Knudson Cove Marina. You'll receive a safety briefing, board your vessel then depart for the fishing grounds. En route, you'll purchase your fishing license directly from your captain, so be sure to bring a method of payment.
