The bucolic area surrounding the charming hamlet of Kerikeri is regarded as Northland's fruit capital. Among the persimmon and kiwifruit orchards sits the Kerikeri Mission Station, home to New Zealand's oldest standing European buildings. Also known as Kemp House, the quaint two-story home dates back to 1819 and the adjacent Stone Store, built between 1832 and 1836, were both part of the Church Mission Settlement established in 1819.

Located about three miles from the town of Paihia in a hidden valley on the beautiful and peaceful Waitangi River, Haruru was once the site of of New Zealand's first river port exporting majestic kauri trees. At the departure point, your experienced guides will outfit you with the proper gear and offer instructions. Once you've hopped into your kayak, you'll shove off into the sheltered waters of the Waitangi inlet, a haven for nesting birds. Soon, you'll glide through an enchanting mangrove forest and up to the unique horseshoe-shaped Haruru waterfall where you'll hear the thunder of water on rocks as the water cascades over the horseshoe-shaped falls.

The Ngapuhi Tribe of the Bay of Islands is the largest group of Maori in New Zealand and a Ngapuhi family member will lead you on your waka journey. Wakas are Maori canoes that can be used for fishing and river travel and range in size from small, unornamented canoes to decorated war canoes that can reach 130 feet in length. As your waka voyage begins you will feel and sense the spiritually of this journey as you paddle your way up the peaceful and tranquil waters of the Waitangi River aboard a 50-foot replica of a traditional Maori waka. Along the way, you'll hear stories about the landscapes and Maori culture, learn Maori songs and chants, and view local wildlife.

Designed for comfort, the "power-cat" catamaran features comfortable indoor and open-deck seating, During your cruise, you'll sail past the historic Cape Brett Lighthouse, the only historic lighthouse managed by the Department of Conservation with its internal workings still in place, and the famous 98-foot-tall Cathedral Cave, one of the longest sea caves in the world. The captain will circle Piercy Island, also known as Motukokako Island, at the outermost limits of the Bay of Islands, and weather permitting, sail through the Hole in the Rock. Passengers will be put into small groups of generally up to eight people per boat with a rod and reel supplied for each angler. A world-leading conservation and research facility, the Blue Penguin Colony is an opportunity to glimpse these adorable penguins. Though they are visible around the colony at night, if you're lucky, you may be able to see this nocturnal bird during the day at a viewing facility that allows you to look into the top of 10 nesting boxes. Every year, adult birds come to Oamaru's shores between May and June to find the perfect nesting site and lay two eggs from August to November.

Built between 1873 and 1877, this magnificent neo-Gothic estate was built for William and Eliza Larnach and their six children by renowned architect Robert Arthur Larson and commands the highest point on the Otago Peninsula. Approximately 200 men spent three years building the shell of the 40,000-square-foot mansion overlooking Dunedin, Otago Harbour and the Otago Peninsula. The reserve is home to a variety of native fauna, such as yellow-eyed penguins, fur seals and the endangered New Zealand sea lions. Okia is also significant for its importance to the Maori people because of their early ancestral living sites.

Day One starts with a motor launch transfer ashore to Milford before boarding your coach. Depart Milford Sound village and drive along the swiftly flowing Cleddau River.
